1) I’m a feminist , I have no idea how I turned out that way, but I always felt that women have been exploited for ages and they need a fair shot. I feel gals here in the US are exploited more than in India, hehe.

2) I like to carry big bills in my pocket, when I have a $100 note in my pocket. I’m the most selfish miser you would ever meet. Gives me a sense of carrying emergency money. The moment I make it petty change, I splurge it off, all you need to do is ask and I would give you some.

3) I always speak the way people expect me too. If they expect me to speak exquisite English, I raise my game. If someone expects me to be bad, words come out flaky. My English teacher tried her best to teach me grammar, My argument was as long as they get what I’m trying to convey, It Don’t Matter. Once a person asked me Do you speak English ?. I was like ” meesa english yes speaka yes yess “

4) I suck at multi-tasking. Maybe its a kind of obsessive disorder, I can go only one thing at a time, that too with a short attention span, I cycle doing things one after another. I think a simple life, is a pleasurable existence, yet I find myself mangled in unneeded wrecks.

5)I’ve had more girls tell me I’ll make someone girl happy some day, than tell me they like me. So much so , I feel something must be terribly wrong with me.

6) I’m a very hyperactive person and I expend most of my energy doing senseless things. One peculiar habit since I was little, is to poke people. I’ve always poked people with my finger to grain they’re attention which has landed me in pretty bad situations, many people have yelled at me , others keep warning and scolding me, while others get annoyed.

I have the exact same problem with #2. My solution is to just never carry cash, since I’m far more likely to use it than credit cards (which is the opposite of most people, I think).

I’d be interested to hear why you think woman in the US are more exploited than in India – personally, I think there’s two very different sorts of sexism/gender role going on in India & the US – too much to make a direct comparison of which is “more”. I find it easier to cope with the American version, but that’s probably just because I grew up with it.

I am interested to hear why to number 1 as well. That’s a very interesting notion on your part. As to number 3, well, what’s wrong with giving them what they expect..in a kinda of smart way though hehehe. As for #5, I just don’t think you have met Ms. Right yet. Hey we’re all still young and have plenty of time to find our better halves..for those of us who haven’t yet. And yeah, well, I have been known to tease a bit too much and annoy some, so don’t feel bad about number 6. I tell others that if I wasn’t picking on them or something, then they wouldn’t know I actually know I liked them.

for your #1 I understand why you think that but I also agree with Gori. I think in different ways it comes out about equal.
#2 I used to be exactly like you so I stopped carrying cash, which lead me to spending more without realizing it, so now, I am starting to carry cash again but to be more cautious.
#3 Hmmm… I do not think I do this but I totally end up using the same accent as whomever I am speaking with.
#4 I think most men are like you
#5 This is the way of the world. It happens to us all. I agree with Ara you just haven’t found the right one yet.
#6 I think there is nothing wrong with being yourself and you shouldn’t worry about it lol people need to take you as you are hehe

WmWB, mee toooo on the #2. It is too easy to just swipe the card because a lot of times, I forget I already used it. My debit card actually only works AT my bank’s ATM and no where else. I have a block put on it. That way, I am forced to write checks, which FORCES me to write them down. I try not to use my credit cards to pay for fast food either.. that is a BAD habit that has been VERY hard to break.

5. 6mile - June 10, 2008

When you carry cards you don’t realize how much you spend, off late, I’ve found a simple solution around it :P . Ara, you came out with a neat solution. I somehow feel you manage your funds wisely GG, hehe.

In India women have been discriminated because of dowry system and the want for male child as a result of it, but most people in general think girls have level head and are more responsible. I feel in the states many guys exhibit a sense of male chauvinism and sexism which ironically most people here in turn associate with Indians.

#1, I partially agree with you, especially when you think on the large general scale, where in India, women(Indian women) especially mothers are to be held highly and respected. Whether this happens so much on an individual level is another matter. That is a big subject for discussion, so I’ll stop here :p

#4 I agree with wmwb, I think most men are not good multi-taskers

#5 Sometimes I think people say stuff just for the h-ll of it

7. 6mile - June 24, 2008

welcome back mirchi !
In india there is still this want a male child hysteria. I feel its going to go down though, because of a gross population ratio, they getting property rights and mostly because more girls are getting into colleges than boys, in many places.

8. Mirchi - June 25, 2008

Yes, girl child un(or less)wanted…. but women thought of highly as an abstract thought(meaning maybe not in practice) …. even India herself, is considered “mother”.
Theres also the idea of the so-called harmless eve teasing, and harassment… as I said, the respect is not always put into practice, :(

Anyway, I may not be making much sense, lol. Need to get more sleep!

9. 6mile - June 27, 2008

I totally agree with you, India is a paradox, in that regard. I sometimes feel cleansing yourself of your culture is the only way out.

Eve teasing is mostly prevalent in youth, who are repressed by society to show they’re hormones, and they explode in the most rash ways.

10. ara0062 - July 7, 2008

la la la… you here or away?

11. 6mile - July 7, 2008

I’m here ara :) . hehe

12. whiteymcwheatbread - July 11, 2008

Hey me too lol I am trying to get back into the swing of things!

13. ara0062 - July 12, 2008

Oh my, I have to say, my blood got to boiling earlier. I went to CBC’s website, and some rude person made a comment about how deserving we think we are as Americans…etc etc, I went off and left a novel of a comment. I was SO angry, I don’t usually say anything, but dangit, I got MAD…. so please excuse it hehe … plus that, when I get angry, these huge/hard words just start popping up everywhere hehehe.

Anyway, how’s the summer going? Any projects? Fun stuff? I really would like to go dig for diamonds in Arkansas, but have got to wait until all the vacations are out of the way at work so I can get two days off back-to-back to go. I really don’t want to drive there the night before, dig, head back that afternoon…it’s about a 5-6 hour drive the way I understand it. I could be wrong though… Have you ever been?

14. 6mile - July 15, 2008

lOOKS like someone blew your whistle , :P

I’m supposed to be busy, but dont have my heart on anything. Just the usual grind of working and earning some extra summer $$$. I’m wrong all the time.
